DESCRIPTION

The Extron DSC HD‑3G A is a high performance HDMI to 3G‑SDI scaler that converts HDMI video signals to 3G‑SDI, HD‑SDI, and SDI formats. It accepts computer and SMPTE video resolutions up to 1920x1200 and 2K, and offers multiple output rates from 480i and 576i up to 1080p/60 and 2K. The DSC HD‑3G A features advanced Extron video signal processing with deinterlacing of signals up to 1080i, and Deep Color processing. Dual SDI outputs, stereo audio embedding, and genlock facilitate integration in demanding professional environments, while the compact enclosure simplifies installation. The DSC HD‑3G A is ideal for applications requiring professional or consumer-level equipment to be interfaced with broadcast-type signals, including video editing and production, rental and staging, medical imaging, and large-scale presentations.

High Performance Video Processing
The DSC HD-3G A provides high performance deinterlacing of all interlaced signals up to 1080i, and Deep Color processing to deliver optimal image quality. Automatic 3:2 and 2:2 pulldown detection maximizes image quality for content sources originating from film. In addition, the DSC HD-3G A provides two simultaneous 3G-SDI/HD-SDI/SDI outputs so that two displays can be driven simultaneously, without the need for additional equipment.

To enhance and simplify integration, the DSC HD-3G A offers automatic input cable equalization. Input equalization restores and reshapes incoming HDMI signals, reducing the need for additional signal conditioning equipment by compensating for weak source signals or signal loss from a long input cable.

Selectable FILL and FOLLOW modes are also available to ensure the proper aspect ratio of the output. FILL mode provides full screen output, while FOLLOW mode preserves the original aspect ratio of the input signal.

Enhanced Audio Capabilities
The DSC HD-3G A offers enhanced audio capabilities, including SDI audio embedding, input gain and attenuation controls, and input audio muting. To suit the needs of the application, the scaler can embed analog input audio signals or HDMI multi-channel PCM audio onto the SDI outputs. The DSC HD-3G A provides gain and attenuation adjustments for the analog stereo input, as well as the ability to mute the audio input.

Multiple Options for Control and Operation
The DSC HD-3G A features front panel controls for quick access to functions. Remote configuration and control are available via RS-232 and USB. The on-screen menus provide control over the unit's functions and settings, including quick access to key parameters such as input and output video formats and resolutions. Additionally, LED indicators on the front panel provide visual confirmation of input and output signal format, and signal presence. The DSC HD-3G A is housed in a 1U, half rack width metal enclosure and can be easily integrated into a variety of environments.

Features
* HDMI to 3G‑SDI, HD‑SDI, and SDI video scaling — The DSC HD‑3G A provides high quality conversion of signal format and video resolution with audio embedding.
* Inputs: One HDMI, balanced/unbalanced stereo on 5‑pole captive screw
* Outputs: Dual buffered 3G‑SDI/HD‑SDI/SDI on BNC
* Accepts HDMI signals up to 1920x1200, 1080p/60, and 2K — The DSC HD‑3G A accepts HDMI input signals at a variety of resolutions. Only unencrypted content can be sent to the output.
* Two simultaneous 3G‑SDI/HD‑SDI/SDI outputs — Simultaneous 3G‑SDI/HD‑SDI/SDI outputs are available for driving two displays.
* Advanced scaling engine with 30‑bit precision processing and motion-adaptive deinterlacing for signals up to 1080i — Image scaling and video format conversion are performed at 30‑bit precision for enhanced color accuracy and picture detail. Advanced deinterlacing for all interlaced signals up to 1080i delivers optimized image quality.
* SDI audio embedding — Analog stereo audio or HDMI multi‑channel PCM audio can be embedded onto the SDI outputs.
* Selectable output rates from 480i and 576i to 1080p/60 and 2K — Available output rates include 480i, 576i, rates up to 1080p/60, and 2K. The DSC HD‑3G A complies with SMPTE 259M, 292M, 424M, and ITU digital video standards.
* Aspect ratio control — The aspect ratio of the video output can be controlled by selecting a FILL mode, which provides a full screen output, or a FOLLOW mode, which preserves the original aspect ratio of the input signal.
* EDID Emulation provides selectable resolutions and refresh rates to ensure reliable operation — The DSC HD‑3G A provides a means for specifying the rate of the incoming signal, ensuring proper communication with the video source.
* Genlock input with loop-through — Allows for synchronization to an external reference signal and supports bi‑level or tri‑level sync for integration into broadcast and production applications.
* AFL™ - Accu‑RATE Frame Lock — A patented technology exclusive to Extron that locks the output frame rate to the input to eliminate stuttering caused by frame rate conversion.
* Front panel LED indicators for signal format, presence, and power — Provides visual indication of system status for real-time feedback and monitoring of key performance parameters.
* Image freeze control — A live image can be frozen using RS‑232 serial control or USB.
* Auto‑Image™ setup — When activated, the unit automatically optimizes the image by analyzing and adjusting to the video input signal. This can save time and effort in setting up a newly connected source, particularly in presentation environments where different guest presenter laptops with various output resolutions will be connected.
* Auto Input Memory — When activated, the unit automatically stores size, position, and picture settings based on the incoming signal. When the same signal is detected again, these image settings are automatically recalled from memory.
* Selectable output color space — The color space can be set to RGB or component video.
* On‑screen menus — Intuitive on‑screen menus allow for easy system setup using the front panel controls. Key parameters such as input and output video formats are conveniently grouped on the initial Quick Setup screen, while additional screens provide full control over the unit's other functions and settings.
* Output Standby Mode — The unit can be set to automatically mute video and sync output to the display device when no active input signal is detected. This allows the projector or flat-panel display to automatically enter into standby mode to save energy and enhance lamp or panel life.
* Power Save Mode — The unit can be placed in a low power standby state to conserve energy when not in use.
* Automatic 3:2 and 2:2 pulldown detection — Advanced film mode processing techniques that help maximize image quality for NTSC, PAL, and 1080i sources that originated from film.
* Picture controls for brightness, contrast, and detail, as well as horizontal and vertical positioning, overscan, and sizing
