DESCRIPTION

The Extron PowerCage FOX SR HDMI Fiber Optic Extender is a modular scaling receiver for the PowerCage® 1600 enclosure that enables long haul transmission of HDCP-compliant HDMI video, stereo audio, and RS-232 control signals over fiber optic cabling. Engineered for exceptional high resolution performance, it uses Extron all-digital technology to deliver perfect pixel-for-pixel HDMI computer-video images up to WUXGA 1920x1200, including HDTV 1080p/60. Designed specifically for AV systems, the PowerCage FOX SR HDMI includes many integrator-friendly features such as Key Minder®, audio de-embedding, selectable HDMI audio pass-through, Auto Input Memory, and internal test patterns.As part of the extensive FOX Series of fiber optic products from Extron, the PowerCage FOX SR HDMI is compatible with FOX Series HDMI, DVI Plus, DVI, VGA, and VGA/YUV transmitters. In addition, it can support long distance transmission and scaling of HDCP content, and can be used in combination with FOX Series switchers and matrix switchers to create an enterprise-wide, HDCP-compliant distribution system.
This modular receiver is ideal for a wide range of long distance applications requiring scaling of high resolution content with the highest quality. It includes high performance scaling technology that accepts input signals at a variety of resolutions and offers multiple output rates up to 1920x1200, including HDTV 1080p/60. The built-in scaler simplifies integration of sources and displays of different resolutions. It provides support for audio and RS-232 control signals, while allowing HDMI, DVI, RGB, and HD component video signals to be scaled to the optimal resolution for the destination device. Because transmission of content is inherently secure and immune to outside interference, fiber applications are favored in government, military, and medical environments.
The PowerCage FOX SR HDMI features Key Minder to simplify integration of HDMI-equipped devices. For HDMI signals with protected content, Key Minder continuously authenticates HDCP compliance to ensure quick and reliable switching in professional AV environments, while enabling simultaneous distribution of a single source signal to one or more displays. If HDCP-encrypted content is sent to a non-compliant display, the receiver outputs a full-screen green signal to provide immediate visual notification that protected content cannot be viewed on the selected display.
The scaling receiver provides industry standard LC-type connectivity, and is available in two formats: multimode and singlemode. The PowerCage FOX SR HDMI MM model supports multimode fiber at 850 nm, which is typically used within buildings or facilities with moderate-range transmission distances. The PowerCage FOX SR HDMI SM model supports singlemode fiber at 1310 nm, offering long-range transmission capability over extreme distances of up to 30 km (18.75 miles). It is used in large facilities such as airports and stadiums, as well as connecting over long distances between facilities such as at a university campus or medical complex.
Analog RGB/HD Component-to-HDMI Conversion
The PowerCage FOX SR HDMI is ideal for AV systems that include a variety of digital and analog displays and sources at different resolutions. Pairing the scaling receiver with a FOX Series VGA or VGA/YUV transmitter provides easy conversion of analog RGB/HD component to HDMI for non-HDCP content. The built-in scaler ensures an optimal resolution for the display.

Hot-swappable components allow the user to replace boards at any time without the need to power down the system. This is especially useful for mission-critical applications that require continuous system operation.
* HDMI audio de-embedding with analog stereo outputs — Digital HDMI audio is made available as a balanced or unbalanced analog stereo signal on captive screw connectors.
* Selectable HDMI audio pass-through — A panel toggle switch enables or disables audio signal pass-through on the HDMI output.
* Aspect ratio control — The aspect ratio of the video output can be controlled by selecting a FILL mode, which provides a full screen output, or a FOLLOW mode, which preserves the original aspect ratio of the input signal.
* Auto Input Memory — When activated, the scaling receiver automatically stores position and detail settings based on the incoming signal. When that signal is detected again, the proper image settings are automatically recalled from memory.
* 30 user memory presets — In addition to Auto Memory, 30 user memory presets on the PowerCage FOX SR HDMI for saving and recall of position and detail information for multiple incoming sources. The ability to save and recall presets is useful in switcher-based environments.
* RS-232 control — Features a rear panel RS-232 serial port for configuration and control.
* Internal test patterns for calibration and setup — Test patterns include grayscale, crosshatch, crop pattern, color bars, and alternating pixels.
* Real-time status LED indicators for troubleshooting and monitoring — Provides visual confirmation of signal presence, HDCP authentication, link status, and power.
* Alarm notification for fiber link loss — The PowerCage scaling receiver board or the transmitter can be set up to trigger an external control system for immediate notification when a fiber link has been lost.
