DESCRIPTION

The Extron DSC 3G‑HD A is a high performance 3G‑SDI to HDMI scaler that converts 3G‑SDI, HD‑SDI, and SDI signals to HDMI. It accepts and scales SMPTE video resolutions from 480i and 576i up to 1080p/60 and 2K, and offers multiple output rates up to 1920x1200, including 1080p/60 and 2K. The DSC 3G‑HD A features advanced Extron video signal processing with deinterlacing of signals up to 1080i, and Deep Color processing. Stereo audio embedding and an SDI input loop‑through facilitate integration in demanding professional environments, while the compact enclosure simplifies installation. The DSC 3G‑HD A is ideal for applications requiring broadcast-type signals to be interfaced with professional or consumer-level equipment, including video editing and production, rental and staging, medical imaging, and large-scale presentations.

High Performance Video Processing
The DSC 3G‑HD A provides high performance deinterlacing of all interlaced signals up to 1080i, and Deep Color processing to deliver optimal image quality. Additionally, the color space and chroma subsampling of the HDMI output can be automatically set to ensure compatibility with a connected DVI or HDMI display. Automatic 3:2 and 2:2 pulldown detection maximizes image quality for content sources originating from film.

To enhance and simplify integration, the DSC 3G‑HD A offers automatic input equalization and reclocking on the buffered SDI loop-through. Input equalization restores and reshapes incoming 3G‑SDI signals, reducing the need for additional signal conditioning equipment by compensating for weak source signals or signal loss from a long input cable.

Selectable FILL and FOLLOW modes are also available to ensure the proper aspect ratio of the output. FILL mode provides full screen output, while FOLLOW mode preserves the original aspect ratio of the input signal.

Enhanced Audio Capabilities
The DSC 3G‑HD A offers enhanced audio capabilities, including HDMI audio embedding, input gain and attenuation controls, and input audio muting. To suit the needs of the application, the scaler can embed analog input audio signals or up to four pairs of AES audio channels from the SDI input onto the HDMI output. The DSC 3G‑HD A provides gain and attenuation adjustments for the analog stereo input, as well as the ability to mute the audio input.

Multiple Options for Control and Operation
The DSC 3G‑HD A features front panel controls for quick access to functions. Remote configuration and control are available via RS‑232 and USB. The on-screen menus provide control over the unit's functions and settings, including quick access to key parameters such as input and output video formats and resolutions. Additionally, LED indicators on the front panel provide visual confirmation of input and output signal format, and signal presence. The DSC 3G‑HD A is housed in a 1U, half rack width metal enclosure and can be easily integrated into a variety of environments.

Features
* 3G‑SDI, HD‑SDI, and SDI to HDMI video scaling — The DSC 3G‑HD A provides high quality conversion of signal format and video resolution with audio embedding.
* Inputs: One 3G‑SDI/HD‑SDI/SDI with buffered input loop‑through on BNC connectors, balanced/unbalanced stereo on 5‑pole captive screw
* Output: One HDMI
* Accepts 3G‑SDI/HD‑SDI/SDI signals up to 2.97 Gbps — The DSC 3G‑HD A accepts video formats from 480i and 576i to 1080p/60 and 2K. It complies with SMPTE 259M, 292M, 424M, and ITU digital video standards.
* Advanced scaling engine with 30‑bit precision processing and motion-adaptive deinterlacing for signals up to 1080i — Image scaling and video format conversion are performed at 30‑bit precision for enhanced color accuracy and picture detail. Advanced deinterlacing for all interlaced signals up to 1080i delivers optimized image quality.
* HDMI audio embedding — Analog stereo audio, or up to four pairs of AES audio channels from the SDI input can be embedded onto the HDMI output.
* Selectable output rates from 640x480 to 1920x1200, including 1080p/60 and 2K — Available output rates include computer and video up to 1920x1200, including 1080p/60 and 2K.
* Input equalization and reclocking on buffered loop‑through — Automatically equalizes incoming 3G‑SDI signals, and reshapes and restores signals on the buffered loop‑through.
* HDMI to DVI Interface Format Correction — Automatically enables or disables embedded audio and InfoFrames, and sets the correct color space for proper connection to HDMI and DVI displays.
* Aspect ratio control — The aspect ratio of the video output can be controlled by selecting a FILL mode, which provides a full screen output, or a FOLLOW mode, which preserves the original aspect ratio of the input signal.
* AFL™ - Accu‑RATE Frame Lock — A patented technology exclusive to Extron that locks the output frame rate to the input to eliminate stuttering caused by frame rate conversion.
* Front panel LED indicators for signal format, presence, and power — Provides visual indication of system status for real-time feedback and monitoring of key performance parameters.
* Image freeze control — A live image can be frozen using RS‑232 serial control or USB.
* Auto‑Image™ setup — When activated, the unit automatically optimizes the image by analyzing and adjusting to the video input signal. This can save time and effort in setting up a newly connected source, particularly in presentation environments where different guest presenter laptops with various output resolutions will be connected.
* Auto Input Memory — When activated, the unit automatically stores size, position, and picture settings based on the incoming signal. When the same signal is detected again, these image settings are automatically recalled from memory.
* Selectable output color space — The color space can be set to RGB or component video.
* On‑screen menus — Intuitive on‑screen menus allow for easy system setup using the front panel controls. Key parameters such as input and output video formats are conveniently grouped on the initial Quick Setup screen, while additional screens provide full control over the unit's other functions and settings.
* Output Standby Mode — The unit can be set to automatically mute video and sync output to the display device when no active input signal is detected. This allows the projector or flat-panel display to automatically enter into standby mode to save energy and enhance lamp or panel life.
* Power Save Mode — The unit can be placed in a low power standby state to conserve energy when not in use.
* Automatic 3:2 and 2:2 pulldown detection — Advanced film mode processing techniques that help maximize image quality for NTSC, PAL, and 1080i sources that originated from film.
* Picture controls for brightness, contrast, and detail, as well as horizontal and vertical positioning, overscan, and sizing
* User presets — Memory presets are available for each input to store and recall optimized image settings.
* Internal video test patterns and pink noise generator for calibration and setup — The unit offers several video test patterns and audio pink noise to facilitate proper system setup and calibration of display devices.
* Audio input gain and attenuation — Gain and attenuation can be adjusted for the analog stereo input.
